Account Manager
I am interviewing for the Commercial Lines Account Manager position within the condo/hab team. The first interview was with a talent acquisition specialist, Lorna, who was great. She was very pleasant and thorough. She called me back about 3 days later to schedule a second interview. They seem to be moving quickly.
- What is your knowledge and usage of carrier-specific information?
Account Manager
The interview process was really tedious. They kept scheduling interview after interview, making it seem like they were tailoring a good book of business for me. However, it was clear they were disorganized and didn't know what they were doing. Although the job title mentioned 'remote', they actually expected monthly travel. The expectations were unrealistic, and they were misleading. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time here. Be prepared for a long assessment that has no relevance to insurance, the job description, or the business functions. For example, they ask pattern recognition questions.
- Could you tell me about the size of the book of business you currently manage?
- What is the volume of commission you handle?
- What is your background and experience within the insurance industry?
Account Manager
I was contacted on LinkedIn by a recruiter. We had a phone call where she explained the position: helping account managers with their duties and assisting them with their clients. The position was also work from home through the end of 2020 because of COVID-19. The recruiter liked me and moved me to a video interview, also virtual due to COVID-19. This interview was with an area manager who oversees my district and the team lead for the office I'd be applying for. The interview sounded like a secretarial position, where you just copy things, do notarizations, and don't work with clients until/if promoted. You also need an insurance license even without working with clients, so be prepared for that. I haven't heard back in over a month, so I assume they're not moving forward with me.
- Would you be comfortable obtaining a P&C insurance license for this role once hired?
