First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Usablenet.
Project Manager
I had 2 interviews for a senior PM role at usablenet. First, a 30 min chat with the Director of Project Management. This helped me get what they were looking for, how the company is set up, and I got positive feedback the same day to move forward. The second interview, planned 3 days later, was supposed to be with one service line director and one sales lead, but it ended up being with 2 service lines directors. Both interviews were good, with a clear overview of the company and the profile they wanted. A third optional interview was planned but it didn't happen. I got very good feedback after both interviews, but wasn't selected because they decided to promote someone internally instead.
- Were my questions too easy because I was well prepared, or were there no difficult or unexpected questions?
QA Engineer
So I didn't get the job, which was a bummer because I was there for like, almost two hours. I talked to three different people. It seems like they interview for both QA Lead and QA Engineer roles at the same time. I started with a quick chat with a woman, mostly just small talk and some easy questions about process. Then I waited a tiny bit before I met a QA Lead, and then the head of QA joined us. The QA Lead didn't ask too much, but the questions were straightforward, basic stuff about mobile and QA process, which makes sense since it's a web to mobile company. The head of QA, though, asked a lot about my background and what my future goals were. The whole thing was about two hours, and I really thought I'd get an offer because they seemed to need someone, but apparently, saying I wanted to be a Lead QA or a Project Manager in five years was the wrong answer, especially the PM part. They rejected me straight up because of that.
- Can you explain what a test plan is?
- What would you say a test case is?
- What is a test plan?
Account Manager
This was a strictly behavioral interview, with no case questions involved. I met with a few people from the hiring team, including peers and managers. The process was generally unstructured. We did a walk-through of my resume, and I answered some basic behavioral questions. It seemed like they placed a significant emphasis on 'culture fit' when assessing candidates.
- Can you start by walking me through your resume?
- What is your understanding of our company?
- What aspects of our company appeal to you?
Sales Development Representative
The hiring process was super fast and smooth, the conversations felt more like talking to a person than a formal interview. They really focus on you as an individual rather than just your resume. They want to see your confidence level and what kind of questions you ask. Make sure you've done your homework on the company and product. You'll be expected to lead most of the conversations after the first one, to show how you'd handle a sales situation.
- No unusual questions were asked.
