It was a tough interview process. They have a training program that lasts up to two years before you actually start working on the deck plates. I've been an EMN for the last ten years and I'm glad I did it.

The recruiting process is pretty standard in the military, and the US Navy follows suit. You'll go through ASVAB testing, and then there's the in-processing which includes a urinalysis, and medical and dental screenings. Background checks are also a regular part of it. They might waive some misdemeanors depending on what they were. This whole process is done in big groups, like 30 or more people. Be prepared to be in your underwear with strangers.

So first, you gotta pass a physical, right? And your ASVAB score needs to be at least 75. Also, gotta have a clean record, though a few minor things are okay. Then you'll head to Chicago for basic training. After that, it's off to technical school for about six months to a year, then another specialized electronics equipment school. Finally, you'll need to pass a background check to get a Secret security clearance or higher.
