First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at US Foods.
Driver
It's an easy interview process, and they seem to offer the job on the spot if they like you. They also make sure you understand how difficult the job really is. I highly recommend asking questions and planning to be on top of your pre-trip and air brake test.
- Are you familiar with hooking up double trailers?
Delivery Driver
It was a typical interview process. The manager spoke about the company and asked some questions. I also did a road test where I had to couple a trailer, drive, back up, and uncouple it. It was pretty straightforward. I decided not to move forward because they were really secretive about the pay structure and how much I would actually be making. The supervisor kept changing the numbers and didn't seem to know the pay himself.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a difficult situation at work?
Truck Driver
It was pretty chill and informal. They mostly wanted to see what kind of person I was, like a personality check. Then there was the road test. I have a CDL, but I'd only driven automatics before, and this was a stick shift. I had a bit of training on it but not much. He noticed on the road test, but he said I was trainable. After the test, he offered me the job.
