The interview process uses the Star Method, so definitely do your research on the company before you go in. Make sure your answers are relevant to the job. Using buzz words can help. Don't be scared to apply for jobs that seem a little higher than what you think you qualify for if you actually do. Distribution is a great place to work because they have good systems and processes.

I got an interview request in March 2021 for a Contract Specialist role at DLA Huntsville, Alabama. Communication was via text and email. When I asked for accommodations via email, including the executive director, they ignored me. I followed up with texts and emails, then they sent me the 1887 form for accommodations. We set an interview time, but I couldn't access the form due to an error. No one helped me with the form issue. They started texting and emailing again, claiming I never replied, even though I had read receipts. I repeatedly explained I couldn't access the form and needed help, but my requests were ignored. The morning of the interview, they canceled, saying I never responded or completed the accommodation form. In June 2021, I received two HR interview requests in DLA Columbus, Ohio (one GS11, one Supervisory). When I asked for accommodations, they initially refused, stating I'd have to speak my answers orally, which is exclusionary for Deaf individuals. After I questioned this, they allowed the interview. The Supervisory interview was fine, with no discriminatory questions. For the GS11 HR position, the panel was a no-show for our scheduled interview. After waiting four hours, I emailed them, and eventually had the interview. One question about my leave and absence frequency was bothersome/discriminatory. Since then, I've applied for similar positions at DLA and been found eligible but not referred, even though I was referred before disclosing my disability. The main HR office in Columbus, which handles eligibility and referrals, is the same one that discriminated against me, so it's unsurprising they aren't referring me now that they know my disabilities. My experience suggests DLA doesn't prioritize hiring disabled candidates.
