First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Uptown Cheapskate.
Buyer
The owner didn't ask about my second-hand buying experience, and when I tried to talk about it, they cut me off and said they want hard workers, not lazy employees. They then asked how much sick time a full-time employee should get, and I guessed around 15 days a year. They immediately turned down the buyer position, mentioning their sales associate who started with less pay. They didn't ask about my resale knowledge and assumed I wouldn't show up enough due to my sick time answer. They also didn't ask about my work ethic. It felt demeaning, and I wouldn't recommend applying here.
- In your opinion, what's the main problem between managers and employees?
- For a full-time role over a year, how much sick time do you feel is appropriate?
Buyer
It was virtual and the manager wanted to mainly know how well you follow trends. They show you pictures and have you pick the item that is NOT on trend currently.
- Which of these images shows an item that is not currently trendy?
Buyer
The interview seemed to go pretty well. The people I met were nice and asked about various fashion styles. I also had to pick out some outfits for mannequins and styled three different looks. We also talked about pricing and what I'd charge for some of the products.
- What would you say your personal style is?
- What's trending in fashion right now?
- What prices would you set for several items in the store?
