First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Upstate Medical University.
AI Governance Lead
So, there were 2 interviews. First, I had a roundtable where they asked questions from different departments. Then, the second interview was a mock presentation about a made-up AI Governance issue.
- What's your approach to managing the review and implementation of an AI product?
Physical Therapist
I had a Webex interview with four Upstate employees. Three were nice, but the fourth, Lori Holmes (therapy director?), was inattentive and kept cutting me off. When I asked about how she values and supports staff, she just said sometimes employees get awards. The interview also included a case study where I had to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a made-up patient with barely any info.
- Tell me about a time your clinical judgment wasn't perfect and how you handled it afterwards.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with a supervisor and the outcome?
- What areas of your personal skills do you think you could improve?
Clinical Research Associate
The interview process was quite long, lasting nearly an hour. Some questions were really tough, expecting me to show a deep understanding of the field and make decisions in various work scenarios. It seemed to go well, but the hiring team was really inconsiderate. They never sent an offer or rejection email, which was a red flag, even after I sent a thank you and follow-up. A professional workplace usually responds within a week, and just like they look for professional qualities in us, we also look for those in hiring teams.
- Can you explain your knowledge of clinical research?
Registered Nurse
I applied online and was contacted by Nursing Recruitment. After that, I had interviews with several floors, some through job fairs and others as individual interviews. Nursing Recruitment sent me offers. They pushed me to take the first offer, but I didn't want to. The Nurse Recruiter seemed irritated, but eventually, I got the unit I really wanted after waiting a few more weeks and doing more interviews.
- Tell me about how you manage stressful clinical situations.
