I first had a chat with a recruiter, and then she gave me a link to schedule a technical assessment with their team. I picked a date about 5 days out. On the assessment day, I got an email saying it was cancelled, which was a surprise. After some email exchanges, we set up a new date. It got rescheduled again, but thankfully it happened on the same day. The assessment was about an hour long, and the interviewer said I passed. However, the next day I received an email saying they decided not to move forward, without explaining why. My experience was pretty negative, felt like a marketing gimmick.
- Can you build a workerpool to download images from a JSON file, where the number of concurrent downloads can be adjusted?
Software Engineer
I was first contacted via email to set up an initial interview. During this interview, they gave a brief overview of the company and inquired about my software engineering and systems development experience. Following this, I was notified two days later that I had advanced to the technical interview stage. This technical interview involved a discussion about relevant technological concepts and my past software development expertise. Subsequently, I was asked to share my screen and was provided with a link to complete some tasks. I carried out these tasks and then sent the code to the interviewer. A day or two after that, I was extended an offer to join the company.
- Could you share details about a project you successfully finished?
- What do you hope to gain from this position?
- Tell me about your background in software engineering and systems development.

The interview process started with a quick chat with HR. Then, there were two more interviews with technical folks where I was asked some technical questions and had to implement a simple crud api. It was surprisingly easy for a company that boasts about having 'top 1% talent'. I got an offer pretty quickly after that, but then there was complete silence for months. Later, I got some emails from Upstack about job openings, but none of them matched my skills, with some even requiring Python or Scala, which I don't know. So, I'm not sure about this company, as they haven't provided any suitable projects.
- Tell me about basic JavaScript concepts like closures and hoisting.
- Could you implement a simple CRUD API?
Senior Frontend Engineer
It was a 2 stage interview process. First HR round, then a technical round. The technical round involved a simple React table, displaying data with styling, responsiveness, and catering for edge cases. HR said I scored really well, but I got rejected. Worst interview experience ever. Beware, the technical round has no time limit. Time keeps going, and I got rejected for taking too long to complete the test. They should have mentioned the time limit for the test clearly.
- The technical round involved implementing a React table, displaying data with styling, responsiveness, and handling edge cases.
