It was a pretty long interview process. It started with a phone call from the recruiter. She was really nice and did a good job explaining the role and the interview steps, and answered all my questions. It was more of an intro call than an interrogation. Then, I had an at-home assignment. They said it would take about two hours, but it ended up taking me several days to figure out, though they were cool and gave me an extension. After that, I had a technical phone call where we used a shared notepad. The final stage was an on-site interview in Toronto. Everyone there was super friendly, which was good because it was a really long day, from 9 AM to 5 PM with an hour break for lunch. The day included an IQ test and face-to-face and video chats with people from both the Toronto and San Francisco offices. The interviews involved a mix of personality/behavioral questions and technical problems solved on a whiteboard. Towards the end of the day, I had to take my existing code and modify it according to new requirements they provided. The recruiter was great at keeping me updated and answering my questions throughout, and the office admin in Toronto was available whenever I needed her between interviews.

I ran into Kontagent at my school's career fair and dropped off my resume. A recruiter called me and explained the whole interview process. She said she'd send me a coding assignment that week, but forgot. I had to remind her the next week, and then I did the coding test, which was to make a basic spreadsheet evaluator. I passed and the recruiter said they liked my code. She then set up a phone interview with the Director of Engineering. He asked about my past internships. I'd worked at social media analytics startups before, so I was able to talk about my experience, the tools and languages I used, and parts of sites I designed, like an in-house notification system I was proud of. He sounded uninterested during the 15-minute call. I wasn't asked tough CS questions, just about my work experience, so I don't think I got anything wrong, just recounted my past. It was a weird phone interview. I didn't get an offer.
