Senior Mobile Engineer
The interview process was pretty in-depth. It started with a technical phone screen. Then there was an in-person half-day thing where I had to present a design for a coding challenge to the whole team and also chat with some remote folks. The coding challenge itself had two parts, and they gave us the requirements beforehand. First, I had to define my solution and present it to the team in person. After that, I spent a day or two implementing it and putting it on GitHub for them to check out. Kinda bummed because I did the implementation over the weekend like they asked, but nobody even made a pull request to look at my code.
- After describing the general functioning of their system at length, the interviewer stopped talking, and I realized the run-on sentence had turned into a question.
- Given no prior exposure to the implementation details of a social analytics platform, how challenging was it to formulate solutions and did you have to ask for clarifications on both the problem domain and specific question posed?
Data Analyst
This was one of the smoothest hiring processes I've ever experienced. The staff was fantastic. I initially applied online after seeing an article about the company in the Business Times. After not hearing back for a week or two, I thought my application had fallen into the black hole of online applications. But almost three weeks after applying, I heard back from them and things took off at rocket speed from there. I had a phone screen on a Friday, and heard back from the recruiting team inside of an hour saying they'd like to schedule a day of onsite interviews. The team bent over backwards to work around my schedule. Wednesday I was in for onsite interviews, and late that night received another email seeing if I could squeeze in a couple hours the following morning. I confirmed at 9am the following morning, was in the office at 10am, and was given a verbal offer before leaving at noon. The team knew I had other offers I was considering, and worked hard to make sure I could consider theirs at the same time. I'm glad they did because I spent the next day on the phone with both companies talking to more people and learning more about the benefits packages. Great job!
- Complete a timed personality assessment.
Data Scientist
It all started with a LinkedIn message from HR. We set up a quick call to chat about my background and technical skills. Then, I had a technical phone interview with the head data scientist, where we went over stats and ML. After that, I went in for an in-person interview. I met with three people, including the R&D head. It was a mix of social chat and technical stuff. The technical part involved a hands-on problem: I was given an hour to work on it by myself.
- Describe your background and technical aptitudes.
- Explain specific statistics and machine learning techniques.
- Tackle a problem, given an hour to work on it alone.
Recruiting Coordinator
The interview process started with a phone screen where they checked for personality and culture fit, and asked about my experience and work history. After passing that, I had an onsite interview. The onsite began with a basic skills aptitude test, similar to the SATs. Then, I had one-on-one interviews where they evaluated my personality and skills. Some interviewers asked similar questions. It was nice that the current Recruiting Coordinator called me personally to let me know I passed, instead of just sending an email.
- You will take the Basic Skills aptitude test.
