First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UPMC.
Senior Recruiter
My interview process was unique since I ended up working for a former colleague who used to report to me. I met with him and two other senior leaders, and that was pretty much it. I did research on the direction of recruitment at CHP and really liked the people I'd be joining. That was the main draw for me.
- What's your recruitment experience?
- How do you work with clients and hiring managers?
Recruiter
I applied and was contacted for a quick pre-screen call a few days later. The pre-screen was pretty basic, covering my resume, work history, and salary expectations. The recruiter didn't sound super enthusiastic by the end, so I wasn't sure if I'd get an interview. However, later that day, they emailed to schedule one. I was sent some info about Childrens' mission, vision, and values to review. The actual interview involved behavioral questions related to the company's 'PRIDE' acronym. I felt I answered well, connecting my experiences to each part of 'PRIDE'. After the interview, I was told they'd finish up interviews the following week. When I didn't hear back after a week, I followed up via email. The response I got was that I didn't have enough experience, and frankly, it sounded like they shouldn't have interviewed me in the first place. It felt like a standard corporate process where they have to interview a certain number of people, which was a waste of my time.
- What's something about you that might frustrate your coworkers?
Talent Acquisition
The team was friendly and positive, but I wasn't really feeling the overall process. They seemed really interested in me. I was actually out of the country and got back on Tuesday, and they scheduled me for an interview on Wednesday. I had to follow up weeks later to get any feedback at all. It felt like a waste of my time and they didn't seem to respect it, so I decided not to pursue any further.
- Can you share details about a project you were involved in?
- Tell me about a specific situation you experienced.
- Could you describe a project you worked on?
