I initially had a phone interview. Afterward, a principal reached out and invited me for a face-to-face interview at Uplift Williams Preparatory in West Dallas. The interview was with the High School Director and the High School Dean. Since I was an Alternative Certification candidate, I didn't have much prior teaching experience. They were aware of this and asked many questions about how I'd handled classroom situations before. I felt I didn't have enough examples to draw from, and they seemed unimpressed. It didn't feel like a good fit, so I'm not upset about not getting an offer.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had a phone interview first, where they asked me about times I persevered and achieved goals, and my views on the education gap. Then, I had a one-on-one interview where I was presented with classroom scenarios and asked how I'd deal with them. After my responses, they provided a strategy and I had to role-play as the teacher. Additionally, I was required to create a lesson plan and deliver a mock lesson in front of a class.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

There was an initial phone interview with questions not directly about education. Then, a written task was given. If both steps were passed, there were more interview questions with the Director, followed by a demo lesson. The process felt very structured, and I noticed the teachers and Director at one campus seemed young, with a lack of older staff. There wasn't much age or ethnic diversity visible among the staff at that campus, suggesting a preference for newer teachers.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you tell me about a time you failed to meet a deadline and what happened as a result?
