Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UpGuard.
Software Engineer
I had a really great time interviewing with UpGuard. The recruiting team was super helpful the whole way through, always letting me know what was up and keeping me feeling good. The people interviewing me made an effort to actually get to know me as a person, not just a candidate, which made talking to them feel really natural and interesting. It was a really positive and well-organized process overall, and I got a great vibe about the company and its employees.
- What is your motivation for joining UpGuard?
Software Engineer
The whole thing was pretty quick and everyone was nice. It was a few one on one calls, then a technical challenge, and a final interview that turned out to be the offer. They seem to overbook though, so it’s like a blind auction for the job – whoever books the last interview spot gets it.
- Could you describe how you would build a micro-batching library?
Software Engineer
So after I applied, I got a confirmation email and then another one outlining the whole interview process. For my role, there were 5 stages. First was an initial video call with either a Talent Partner or an Engineering Manager; mine was with an Engineering Manager. Second was a Technical Assignment. It wasn't huge but had good technical depth. They gave me a week, but with the holidays, I got up to two weeks and finished it in 9 days. They said it would take 2-3 hours, but I think most people would spend more time to make it really good. Third was a Technical Interview that lasted 60 minutes. It involved some live coding of medium difficulty, exploring different solutions and their trade-offs, plus a chat about my background. Fourth was a Culture Interview for 30 minutes. Fifth was the CEO Interview, also 30 minutes.
- Can you tell me about a product or software you really like and use? What makes it great?
- What improvements or changes would you suggest for a product or software that you enjoy using?
