Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Unum.
Office Manager
I applied online and the recruiter reached out via email to schedule an initial interview. The interview seemed to be going okay, but then the recruiter told me the pay was much less than what was advertised online and on their own website. They tried to say it was a mistake on the third-party site, but it was also on their own listing. It was significantly lower, making it a total waste of my time.
- Could you describe the main duties of this role?
Manager
It was a multi-step interview process with people higher up in the company. All the interviews were behavioral, asking for examples, so it was good I prepared. The process took longer than I thought it would, with the offer coming a week after the last interview. The interview itself was done over video.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a challenge, describe your approach to resolving it, and detail the final result?
Implementation Manager
We talked about behavioral questions and how my current experience would fit the role. They asked about my experiences and accomplishments. I was given a scenario that happened in a client meeting and asked how I would quickly assess and resolve it on the spot.
- What's your approach to managing challenging circumstances?
- How would your present experience be an asset in this position?
- Can you share some of your past experiences and professional achievements?
