Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UNM Hospital.
Registered Nurse
The interview process was long but it was a good experience. I felt like I got the job almost immediately. They were really thorough and nice to me throughout the whole thing. I liked how personal it felt, it didn't feel like I was just talking to a computer.
- What makes you want to join our company?
Registered Nurse
I applied online, and got a call within days for an online interview. On the same day, I was sent a request for references and the Applicant Assessment. It seems they sent those emails by mistake because that evening, when I tried to enter my references, it said my application was removed. I emailed HR to confirm if I was removed so quickly, but got no response. I tend to interview badly due to anxiety, especially on camera. I feel pretty bad about it. I have a good job now, but I need more of a challenge.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in this position?
Registered Nurse
I applied for the job online and got a call back a couple weeks later. It was a peer interview, and everyone asked general questions. They were all super nice and easy to talk to. About two weeks after that, they called me with an offer. I needed a few days to think it over since it was unexpected, but I accepted a few days later. This was way easier than my last job's interview process at a competitor hospital, which was awful and had multiple interviews with different departments.
- Can you share an experience where you had to manage a challenging patient, and describe your approach?
