& Process

I applied online and had to answer three essay questions. Then, I was invited for in person interviews. They sent us the questions 24 hours before the interview. We had to prepare a response for a fake resident scenario and also answer questions about ourselves. They also asked us to bring something that we felt represented us.

It started with a recorded interview where I had to answer some questions. Then the hiring manager reached out and we set up the next interview. In that one, I had to build Salesforce LWCs and an Apex class to show data, and they gave me some info about the job. The last interview involved me joining a regular planning meeting for the role, where I had to diagram the business flow in LucidChart and join the discussion. They said I'd hear about onboarding soon after. But the hiring manager ghosted me and then emailed the day after the expected call to say they changed their mind and weren't hiring me. Although the interviews were very hands-on, it felt like they were taking advantage of me for free work, making me build stuff and attend a planning meeting for an app I knew nothing about.

I applied in December and was shortlisted for a virtual interview in mid-January, then a second virtual one in mid-February. They initially said the first interview would be by phone, but it ended up being on Teams. After the second interview, they said I'd hear back by the end of the week, but it took a week and a half to get an email saying the posting was cancelled. That was the only communication I got. The time between interviews was really long, and they didn't even ask for my availability to schedule. They seemed really picky about who they wanted, even though the last person in the role left without giving proper notice.

So basically first they advertised the job on the university website or other places. Then I had to apply online with just my resume. After that, the hiring committee checked all the applications and picked out the ones that met the basic requirements. Then, the candidates they shortlisted got invited for interviews, which could be over the phone, video, or in-person. Mine was on Zoom. They also checked references from the candidates to confirm their qualifications and experience. Finally, the hiring committee made a job offer to the person they selected. The candidate could then negotiate some parts of the offer before accepting it. Once accepted, the candidate just had to do the paperwork and go through orientation to start the job.
