I was contacted for an interview on Friday evening for this role. The interview was scheduled for the following Wednesday, and I was only informed of the time the day before. This wasn't a great start. The interview itself was quite disappointing. It felt like they were just going through the motions. They didn't even explain the role's context until I asked just before they ended the call. In my experience, interviewers usually take more time to explain the role. It really felt like they just wanted to get it over with quickly. Honestly, I suspect they had already chosen someone and were just interviewing others to seem fair.

Applied online. Got an interview invite a week later. They asked for references before the interview. I had to give a 10 min presentation about my PhD project. I also had to prepare an answer for 'Given unlimited funding, which outstanding question in biomedical science would you resolve?'. A few hours after the interview, the PI emailed saying HR would contact me officially and I could reach out to him for questions. Two weeks passed with no word from HR. I emailed the PI again, and he said he would follow up. Since HR was still unresponsive, I emailed them directly. Within 10 minutes, I got a rejection email. I was shocked, especially since the PI had emailed me earlier. I emailed the PI for feedback but never heard back. It seems like they changed their mind. This was a terrible experience.
