Got a phone screening with the hiring manager and she really liked my energy. She then scheduled a Zoom interview for the next day with two other PIs. I had a great interview with all of them and was invited for an in-person interview. During the in-person interview, I met with the hiring manager and the PIs, and they told me I'd be a perfect fit. They showed me around the office, introduced me to the team, and said they'd be in touch. Three days later, the recruitment team emailed me asking for five references. I really thought I had the job secured. Ten days after that, I sent a follow-up email to the hiring manager, thanking her and mentioning I hadn't heard from a recruiter yet. She replied immediately, asking me to update her weekly on any contact from recruitment. Two weeks later, I sent another follow-up email. A few hours after that, I received an automated response from recruitment stating the search was complete and they had hired someone else. I was devastated, especially since my references had to complete a lengthy questionnaire and some were even contacted. It would have been nice to at least get a personal email after being led on for so long.

About a month after I applied online, I got contacted for a phone interview. The phone interview itself was pretty unprofessional. The call started thirty minutes late, and the interviewer actually hung up mid-call to take another call, making me wait again. When they called back, they couldn't even remember which questions they'd already asked. It was super obvious they weren't prepared and hadn't even bothered to read my application. Plus, the interviewer was really rude and kept cutting me off when I was trying to answer.

I lived out of state so my first interview was via Skype. A month later I had an in-person interview once I graduated and moved. A week or two after that I had another interview, there were several positions available and I was being interviewed for all of them. It took months to finally get an answer from them, numerous delays etc.
