The interview was called an "open house" where potential candidates are all brought in. In pairs of two perspective students, three interviews with professors are held. The topic of conversation ranged from previous project history to asking how they could persuade us to join their program. Professors all gave 15 minute small talks to explain their work. There was a campus tour and a trip to Starbucks.

I was doing well in the Professor's class so I asked her about this position. She asked me about my background, like my undergraduate studies and work experience. After she was sure the project was related to what I'd done before, she had me read some papers and other materials about it. Then she gave me two assignments. I completed those successfully and she hired me.
