The interview process included a recruiter call and an onsite interview. During the onsite, there were behavioral questions about how to approach and solve problems or difficult situations. The interviewers were professional and welcoming. It's important to greet the receptionist and be nice to everyone you meet. Graduate Student
I applied during the winter before starting grad school. UIC invited me for an interview day after reviewing my application. Throughout the day, I had conversations with different professors and current graduate students. It was a pretty laid-back experience. I figure they were mostly checking if I was who I said I was on my application.
- What research interests do you have?
Graduate Assistant
I saw the job posting on the university's job board and submitted my resume. They contacted me because they liked my resume and invited me to their office for an interview. I met with three interviewers, and they asked me a mix of behavioral and technical questions. The entire process was pretty quick, finishing in under a week, and I started working the week after my interview.
- Have you worked in a college environment before?
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you assess your programming and web development skills?
