after you get past the online application and your first chat with a possible advisor, the interview day has 3 more interviews with professors. Some will be in research areas close to yours, and some won't be, just to get a mix of views.
- Can you tell me about your research interests and how your past work has supported them?
Graduate Student
We set up a time via email. They flew me out. I spoke with faculty members for about 30 minutes each. Afterwards, I had dinner with the current grad students, followed by happy hour with the faculty. I left the next day, taking the shuttle from Boulder to Denver International Airport.
- Can you explain how your research connects to what this department is trying to achieve?
Graduate Student
It was easy but took a lot of time, though it was worth it in the end. The school is nice, but sometimes they seem to forget about student needs and prioritize other things over the student body.
