The interview process can differ across departments, leading to varied experiences. Typically, it involves a panel interview. The effectiveness of the panelists in conducting interviews can vary, but they are required to ask all candidates the same questions, regardless of their relevance to each individual. Some panels can be very rigid and won't allow candidates to stray from the questions asked. Adhering to the scheduled interview time is crucial, and sometimes there's no flexibility, even if the interview is progressing well. The follow-up after the interview might take a while and depends on the specific department. It's common to apply for a position and then never hear back about the application status, again, this really depends on the hiring department.

For the psychology department. I saw the job posted on the Work Study website, so I sent my resume in. The hiring manager emailed me back directly and invited me to the office for an interview. She mainly asked personal questions to gauge my personality - I think she was trying to see if I'm reliable, self-sufficient, and have a can-do attitude, as most of the tasks are repetitive and not very challenging.
