I really enjoyed the interview process. All the line managers were very pleasant and straightforward about the job duties. They were also very willing to answer any questions I had, which made me feel the process was fair and respectful. I'd happily suggest this opportunity to others. However, the HR part of the process was quite slow.

We had a lunch interview with the Supervisor, and they showed me the research team. We chatted about relevant skills for the PhD and my inspirations after the PhD. A key point: be critical about which PhD supervisor you choose and how much time they can dedicate to you.

First, you have to fill out a form on their website. They have a really detailed project description, and you need to answer specific questions about how your experience aligns with their needs. You also need to include your publication list and reference contacts. If they decide to interview you, you'll be invited to campus to give a brief presentation. There are some guidelines for this presentation on how to talk about your past work and the contributions you could make to their department. Afterwards, a panel of three professors will ask you questions. The first professor will explain the project and the role's expectations. The second professor will ask technical questions. The third will ask more general questions, similar to what you'd find in a typical company interview. The visit ends with a tour of the research facilities, and they'll let you know their decision within two to three weeks after the interview.
