Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University Growth Fund.
Analyst
First, there was an initial interview. Then, I was sent a slide deck. Finally, I had to present this slide deck to the hiring manager and one of the owners of the fund.
- Why are you interested in joining the University Growth Fund?
Analyst
The interview process was really intense. First, there's a screening round that's pretty quick and mostly behavioral questions. Then, you have to build a memo for one of three companies they give you. The last part is presenting that memo to the whole team, which takes about an hour. It's a steep learning curve but great experience if you want to get into VC.
- Can you tell me about a startup that has caught your attention and explain your reasoning?
Analyst
First round was to gauge interest in VC, knowledge of leading companies, and behavioral fit. Next, you had to develop an investment analysis for 3 companies, then pitch the company and whether it's a good investment.
- How would you determine the value of this pen or company?
- Which startup would be your current investment choice?
