First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Universal Technical Institute.
Laborer
So, basically, I went through four interviews with this company, Universal Technical Institute. It felt like way too many steps. They kept saying I was doing great, which made it even weirder when the fourth interview happened. Two people who seemed like they didn't know what they were doing were interviewing me. One of them had bad internet, so we kept getting disconnected, like three times. It was a mess. After that, I heard absolutely nothing for three weeks. I tried following up, but no response. Then I saw the job was posted again. I thought I was still in the running since they liked me so much before. Three weeks later, I got a super short email saying they found someone else. They did say I should apply for other jobs there, but honestly, after all that, I don't think so. It was really unprofessional and disorganized.

Marketing
My virtual job interview with Universal Technical Institute was a really great experience. Everything was super prepared and organized, making it all go really smoothly. The person interviewing me was engaging and professional, and they made it feel comfortable and like a normal conversation. They asked some really good questions that helped them see if I was a good fit for the job and also showed they cared about where I want my career to go, which I think shows how much the institute wants to find the right person for the job and the right job for the person. Even though it was online, they did a good job of telling me about the institute's values and what it's like to work there, so I felt like I knew what was going on and was part of things. All in all, my interview with Universal Technical Institute was a really positive one, and I'm super excited about the possibility of joining their team.

Financial Aid Advisor
I talked to the recruiter and it seemed to go well. The recruiter was really friendly. A few days later, I followed up with the recruiter to thank her and ask about updates, but she didn't reply. I emailed her again a few days later and still no response. I get it if they went with someone else, but I thought it was pretty unprofessional of her to ghost me after I reached out twice. I also saw online that this is pretty typical for them, not getting back to people they interviewed.

Admissions Representative
The hiring process was really quick, with the initial meeting with the hiring manager happening just a few days after I applied. They mentioned upfront that the job involves handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously, which I was okay with since I needed employment. But after looking at company reviews and thinking it over, I realized it wouldn't have been a good fit for me. I did advance to a panel interview, which was scheduled less than a week later. It was a virtual interview conducted by three male employees. I felt a bit uncomfortable because I noticed not everyone was giving me the same level of attention or eye contact that I was giving them. One panel member seemed quite irritated and kept asking me questions that another panelist had already covered, as if he wasn't paying attention.
