Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Universal Service Administrative Company.
Program Analyst
The interview process started with an HR interview that focused on behavioral questions, particularly asking about experiences dealing with difficult people. Based on the interview, this role appears to be primarily about reviewing forms submitted by those they serve. The manager seemed to prioritize efficiency in quickly reviewing forms, making it feel somewhat like an assembly line.
- How do you decide what to do first?
- Can you share a time you had to work with someone difficult?
- Tell me about a time you did repetitive or boring tasks.
Program Analyst
The interview started with a pretty generic phone screen. If I passed that, I had a face to face interview with the hiring manager, a staff member, a director, and a manager from another team. They asked standard questions during this part. There was also a skills test, specifically for MS Excel.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you faced at work and explain how you handled it?
Analyst
I was contacted by a recruiter for an initial interview. I had to follow up with them about the next steps. Then I had a second interview with the manager, which was great, followed by a panel interview. I didn't hear back for a month, so I reached out again. The recruiter then said they'd let me know by the end of the week, but I never heard back. When I followed up again, I got an automated message saying they're out of office for two months. It was the worst-run interview process ever.
- Behavioral questions were asked during the second round.
- The first round was a get-to-know-you session.
