Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Universal Music Group.
Technology Intern
First there was a hirevue, then a zoom panel interview. The panel interview had two people from the team I'd be working with and was super conversational. They asked me about what teams I might be interested in and asked questions about stuff on my resume.
- What makes you want this job?
- Which teams are you thinking about?
- Can you tell me about your background?
Intern
The first interview was with talent acquisition, it was really chill and mostly about my interest in music and why I wanted to work at Universal. Then I had a second interview with the team manager, which was a bit more formal. They asked about my past work experience and what I could contribute to the team. I also had to do a task. I actually interviewed for two different roles. For the first one, they told me it was between me and someone else, and they went with the other person because they had more experience. The second role seemed like a good fit, but then they told me the hiring process was on hold because of a freeze, and I never heard back after that.
- What makes you want to join Universal Music Group?
International Marketing
First, a phone call with HR, then an interview with the marketing manager and marketing director. It was a simple and friendly interview.
- What's the reason for your job change?
- Are you proficient in English?
- Have you previously worked in this industry?
