The interview process for the AI PM position at Unity Aura involved a total of 7 hours of interviews. It kicked off with a PM TL zoom call (1h), followed by a PM TL meeting and interview (1h), then a VP PM meeting and interview (1h), and an HR meeting and interview (1h). The final stage was a 3-hour meeting with the PM TL, VP, and Tech Lead, including a simulation where I had to plan a vacation. While the process was quite long, it was generally straightforward. Despite investing significant time and effort, including extensive preparation and a demanding simulation, I was ultimately rejected. The rejection itself was a brief 30-second call from HR with minimal feedback, stating a lack of analysis skills, which I found to be a very unhelpful and dismissive way to end the process.

The process started with a recruiter reaching out. We had a 30-minute chat about my experience and how it aligns with the role. The conversation seemed to go well, and the recruiter mentioned proceeding to the next round with the hiring manager, and we scheduled a time that worked for both EST and Pacific time zones. Unfortunately, the recruiter never followed up. Even after I emailed to check on the status, I didn't get a response. I was just hoping for some closure or a brief note, but got nothing. It feels like another company where recruiters are just focused on hitting their numbers. Perhaps it was just a bad experience with one person, but it might reflect the company culture.

The interview process was really well-thought-out and everyone I interacted with was super nice! It started with a phone interview with an HR person, followed by a Zoom call with my closest future colleague. Then there was a take-home assignment. The final interview was supposed to be in-person on-site, but due to covid-19, it also ended up being on Zoom. The questions asked were relevant and helped uncover strengths and experiences I hadn't considered important for the role, but now I see their value. Even if I don't get the job, I feel the interview process has better prepared me for future applications.
