Test Engineer
Got an email to confirm a phone call. After the phone call, I was given a homework task, which was a project that needed fixing. Then I had to wait a month until after new year because they said they needed to 'open' new positions. After that, I was invited to another interview with the team lead. I had to do some tasks on the spot and then wait for an answer. After two weeks of waiting, they asked me to fill out references, BUT they said they had no open roles at that moment and I would have to wait another 2 weeks because they have a quick rotation of new workers. This is normal. Two months went by and I was contacted by another recruiter, who also had questionable ability to write formal emails in English. They offered me another position, but still not the one I initially applied for. I said I was interested, and again, I waited 2-3 weeks for them to fully develop the position description and finish their inner rotation. Now, as of March, it's been 2 months since I was accepted and almost 4 months since the interview, and I got a new email asking me to apply for this new position from the beginning.
- Are you an emphatic person?
Test Engineer
The hiring process had 3 parts. First, a phone call with a recruiter to go over job details and the hiring process. They gave all the info like salary, work hours, and how we work. Second, a test task in Unity. For this role, it was a simple task to check if I knew the basics of scripting and Unity. It needed some creativity and learning, but the deadline was a week, which was good. Third, a video interview with my future manager where they asked about my experience, projects, and basic programming and QA knowledge.
- Can you tell me about your experience in software development or software QA?
- Have you worked with the Unity game engine before?
- Could you explain what "bubble sort" is and how it works?
Software Test Engineer
A recruiter posted about openings on LinkedIn, so I reached out. She then scheduled a phone interview where she asked about my background and experience, and also gave me a small project. I submitted it and had an on-site interview two days later. The on-site had 4 rounds focusing on algorithms, data structures, and testing scenarios. They walked me through their current system, and I shared my ideas on how I'd build a test plan for it. They also asked about my interest in Testing and Unity.
- What's your interest in Unity?
- Given the current system's diagrams, how would you approach testing this particular scenario?
- Can you share a challenging situation you faced in a previous role?
