First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UnitedHealth Group.
Case Manager
it took about two weeks to get an interview. the interview was over the phone with the manager and lead. then a follow-up by Human Resources. The main part of the interview involved scenario questions about previous situations and how they were handled.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with conflict.
- Describe how you handled a challenging situation in the past.
Manager
Applied for the role in February 2022. Then received the Self-Identify form. In March 2022 I got the invitation to interview via Hireview. After that, I got an invitation to interview with the Director, which was supposed to be 4 people but ended up being one person. Still waiting for a decision, which was supposed to be one week, now 4 weeks. Expecting a decision by the end of April 2022. Online it still says under review. The hiring process online needs to change because if a hiring manager is outside of 24-48 hours to make a decision, why not just tell people what is happening rather than prolonging it. It's inconsiderate of candidates who prepared to get the run around like our time and feelings don't matter. For UHC to be a respected company, the hiring process is unprofessional and horrible. Do better.
- Make sure you prepare using the STARs method.
Case Manager
After applying online, I was contacted on my second application. The interview process felt disorganized, starting with being brought into a large room with many other candidates, which felt like being herded. I was then called individually to interview with one or two people. I was asked to demonstrate skills in a realistic setting during a phone call, which I felt went well. I was told I was a great fit for the position and would receive an offer. The offer came several days later via phone, followed by a confirmation letter. I then attended a first "induction," where I was again herded into a room for a position not listed on my offer letter. When I pointed this out, I was told the letter was likely incorrect and asked if I still wanted the job, then instructed to sit down.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
