Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UnitedHealth Group.
Administrative Assistant
This was the worst recruiting experience ever. Four people contacted me about the same job. I emailed each of them back with my availability for an interview, but never heard from them. Then, a different recruiter cold called me. We played phone tag because this recruiter never emailed to schedule anything. Eventually, I was told I was rejected because they claimed they tried to reach me three times and I didn't respond. It's funny because the lead recruiter had forwarded my email with my available dates and times just a couple days before. This whole thing wasn't worth my time.

Administrative Assistant
I applied for a bunch of positions and got an email back for one really fast. First, there's an online digital interview with 3 camera-recorded questions. Then, within 2 days, I had a quick photo interview with HR that had a few questions. After that, I was offered an in-person interview with the hiring manager, which I thought went super well! It's been 7 weeks since that interview, and I haven't heard back at all, even though I've reached out a few times.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain why you're a good fit for this role, including your working style?
- Tell me about yourself and your working style, and why you'd be a good fit.
- Discuss your working style, introduce yourself, and explain your suitability for this position.
Administrative Assistant
I applied online through uhg.com. First, I had a phone pre-screening where they just confirmed my resume details. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager. After that, I went back for a second interview with some key people in the department. Finally, the recruiter extended an offer.
- Confirming the fit of your personality with the team was a key interview question.
- Did the interview ask about how your personality would mesh with the team?
- Were there questions about your suitability for the team environment?
