Ive been applying to UHC for a year and a half, which is 462 applications with probably 400 rejections. From higher positions to mid-level positions, my interviews always go very well. My education and skills usually align with the requirements. It might be that very few roles I'm not qualified for. Most hiring managers or panels make it seem like they're going to hire you, and then you get the generic rejection email without any feedback. Also, Ive been told they tend to hire internally before external candidates, which means a lot of times you don't have a chance. This company lacks in its hiring process, and as far as Im concerned, all these companies are starting to hire very slowly compared to when they were hiring everyone during the pandemic because half the people got fired for not having the shot or quit. Now they are being very selective, which wasn't the case before. The majority of my interviews were with white counterparts, and as Im black, it's making me think they don't hire many black people. I mean, 462 applications with at least 30 interviews and I haven't received one offer, and I do well in my interviews. This is starting to be a red flag.

Had an initial call with the recruiter, which went well. I was told I'd hear back about next steps by the end of the week. Unfortunately, I never received any follow-up communication. While I get that maybe the team decided to move forward with other candidates, it would have been nice to get a confirmation either way. A simple closure would’ve made the experience feel more respectful.

About two weeks after I applied, the hiring manager reached out to me via email. She conducted a phone screen that lasted about an hour. Then, I had a second interview with her and a developer, which was about 25 minutes long. They essentially asked if I could send over some relevant sample code. I sent that in, and the next day, I was invited to the office for an interview with two people. A significant portion of the interview focused on discussing benefits and the company culture, it felt like they were trying to recruit me. Two days later, I received and accepted the offer. So far, I'm really happy here.
