First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United Way.
Coordinator
The interviewer was nice and helpful and told me her name. HR management said there would be a second interview after the screening and gave me a clear timeline and info on United Way's hiring process.
- Tell me about your experience with 2-1-1.
Coordinator
I submitted my resume through a current employee referral and had a phone interview the same day. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview. Right after the first in-person, they asked me back for a second interview. Then, because a panel member couldn't make it, I had a second phone interview. Before I finished the second in-person interview, they had already called all my references, including my current employer. I finished the second in-person interview, and after I followed up, I was told I didn't get the job.
- Can you tell me about your biggest weakness?
- How would you handle a situation where three people approached you simultaneously with urgent tasks?
Program Coordinator
The whole interview process took about two weeks. The first interview was about 45 minutes and was a Q&A session where they asked a set list of questions to see how I answered. They also wanted to know how my background fit with the job description. The second interview was a practical exercise that lasted almost 3 hours. I was given a task and had to create a presentation. I had an hour and 15 minutes to work on the project, then an hour to present it to the panel.
- What would your ideal working environment be if you could create it with a magic wand?
- Describe your ideal working environment.
- How does your background align with the responsibilities outlined in the job description?
