Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United Talent.
Mailroom Clerk
The interview process was short, when you get ghosted. It was long when you waited 4 weeks to hear an answer after 5 emails. It's odd for any talent agency to interview a candidate and then ignore any correspondence. Immature and unprofessional, just tell the guy/girl they didn't get it and move on.
- Which department would you like to work in?
Mailroom Clerk
I got the interview through a temp agency. My agent set it up and a week later I went to UTA. I waited in the lobby with other potential agent trainees. Then Michael Conway's (Head of hiring) assistant called me in. I sat down with both of them and Mr. Conway asked me some basic questions. It was a short interview, about 15-20 mins. I didn't get the offer. I think he wants someone confident, unflappable, and personable.
- What is your motivation for wanting to be an agent?
Mailroom Clerk
The interview process was very open-ended, and the interviewer was pleasant. They outsource the initial interviews to a hiring agency in Miami, so the interviewer might not be very familiar with LA-specific life. Don't stress too much! The key question for me was "Do you want to be an agent?", and I was able to answer truthfully. Your answer will vary.
- What were your responsibilities at the "x" agency?
