Consultant
it was very good and interesting. They asked about specific issues in the region and how i would deal with adversity. They also asked why I wanted the position. They asked me about a challenging situation and how I dealt with it.
- Describe a challenging situation and how you handled it.
- How would you address specific regional issues and deal with adversity?
- What motivates your interest in this position?
Consultant
The interview process is pretty standard, so it's good to get ready with behavioral questions and anticipate what they might ask. Depending on the specific job description, it's usually not too tough, but sometimes they'll throw in technical questions that are specific to the role.
- Can you describe a project you managed with a tight deadline?
Advisor
I applied through my University's career center, sending in my Resume, Cover Letter, and a writing sample (a research paper). I got a call inviting me for an interview. The interview itself was done via Skype with the supervisor. It was a pretty laid-back interview, partly because of the cultural values of the mission. For any UN interview, make sure you dress professionally in business attire, a blazer is recommended as it's a very formal environment. I got a call a week later offering me the position, and I started the following week.
- How have your university courses prepared you for this role?
