Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United Nations Foundation.
Manager
It started with a written form where I had to answer questions about my interest in the role and my strategic approach. After that, I had an interview with the program director and some folks from the program and communications team. The interview itself was really nice and covered a good mix of technical and situational topics.
- What makes you want to join this team?
- What's your strategic approach to this role?
Management
The interview process was seamless. I had an initial phone interview with my potential superiors, an interview with the department, and then a final interview with human resources. The interviews were conducted in a professional, yet casual manner. I was impressed with the questions asked regarding both my personal and professional background. Overall, a very good interview experience.

Senior Manager
Applied online on 12/13. Got an email on 1/6 to set up a phone screen. The HR Rep no-showed for the 1/11 phone screen. I emailed them for an update, and they asked me to reschedule. The HR Rep no-showed again on 1/13 and emailed asking me to reschedule again. I reached out to the hiring manager directly, who promptly scheduled a screening. The hiring manager screening was on 1/20. I don't remember many role-specific questions; the conversation was very casual, almost unprofessional, with some profanity. I was warned that the interview and hiring process is usually difficult, especially when trying to get the initial screening with HR done. I followed up a few days later as is standard after an interview, but received no reply. I never got any notice that the job was filled.
- Can you share your experience with remote work, given the role is fully virtual?
