My application got a response from the recruiter who then set up a phone interview. I had a call with the recruiter where I asked about the next steps and was told my resume would be passed to a hiring manager. I never heard back for over a month, even after asking for updates. They didn't reply to my emails at all. It's really unprofessional to ghost someone after an interview.

I applied for an electrical engineer role and after a week, a recruiter called me. She mentioned the role I applied for was filled but suggested a similar one. We scheduled a call for 9/21, where we discussed my understanding of ULA and my expectations for the role. She was very nice. After our call, I applied for the new role on 9/21. On 9/27, I got an automated email saying I was moving forward and a link to re-enter my information, which was basically the same as before. The same recruiter then confirmed a Zoom interview for 10/11. She messaged me on the day of the interview to wish me luck. The interview with the hiring managers lasted an hour and had two interviewers. It seemed to go mostly well. The questions were mainly behavioral and situational. I talked about my resume for about 10 minutes, and they'd stop me to dive deeper into certain points. Since I'm most experienced in GNC, which one interviewer specialized in, we spent about 20-30 minutes on that. We covered attitude dynamics, control topics like DCMs, my experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Arduino, and upcoming controls courses. This interviewer was clearly more engaged than the second one, who seemed distracted. The first interviewer kept stressing that the role would involve a lot of systems engineering. I mentioned that while it wasn't my favorite, I had taken coursework and was confident in my ability to handle subsystem architecture, requirements, and CONOPs. They seemed very keen on pushing systems engineering despite me applying for an electrical/avionics role. After the interview, the recruiter said she'd hear back from the managers in 1-2 days. I didn't hear anything for a week, so I reached out. She called back and informed me that they felt I was a better fit for a systems engineering job than an electrical engineering one and offered to help me apply for SE roles. It was confusing because they pushed SE heavily even though I expressed less interest and was applying for an avionics position. I declined the offer.

I applied back in January, and HR got back to me about a week later. They wanted me to answer a few questions and said they'd pass my info along to the hiring manager. I didn't hear anything until the end of April when they asked me to set up a phone interview with the department manager. That interview went pretty well. Then I had a second interview with some engineers and the manager, which I felt could have gone better. About a week after that, I got an offer.
