United Airlines Financial Analyst Interview Questions

The interview process kicked off with a phone chat with a manager. Next, there was a more involved second stage that included an Excel case study, a case study, and a virtual interview with two managers. Honestly, that second round felt pretty intense compared to other places. I thought the case study and the Excel part could be their own round because it took so much time. Maybe splitting them up, like having the manager interview as one round and the cases as another, and then cutting people would be better for the interviewers. It would save us time too if we knew sooner rather than later if we weren't a fit. Everyone was nice though, and the only real issue was having to chase them for an update. When I followed up, I asked for feedback but just got a standard 'We've gone another route.' It would be better if HR could provide feedback in those awkward moments.

I applied online and got an email a few days later to schedule an interview with the hiring manager. I found it odd that there was no initial screen with HR. The hiring manager interview was pretty standard, we went over experience and got details about the role. The typical situational behavioral interview questions were asked. Next round was with someone at the director level and was also very conversational. Similar deal here, your average behavioral interview questions were asked. Final round was with the managing director and can be described as a culture check. This was a quicker interview, went over background and the team at United. Also had time for questions at the end. There was a final excel case that was to be done and emailed back to the HM. I pulled out of the interview process after this. Entire interview process was virtual.

First, I had a phone interview where they asked a lot of behavioral and personal questions. Then, I had a face-to-face interview, mostly asking what I knew about the industry and why I wanted to work for United. Lastly, they gave me a case to figure out the best number of tickets to sell for a Chicago to Dallas flight, and whether stopping in St. Louis to sell tickets cheaper would be more optimal.
