Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United Airlines.
Analyst
I applied off campus by cold mailing and the interview process was super smooth, taking about 1.5 months. There were three rounds: a technical round, a round with an offshore manager from the US, and a round with a senior manager from India. They asked questions related to SQL, case studies, and guesstimates.
- Answered 4-5 SQL questions of medium to hard difficulty.
- Worked on case studies.
- Tackled guesstimate questions.

The interview process included an online recorded session, a phone screen, an interview with the hiring manager, and another interview with a manager. All of these were video calls lasting about 30 to 60 minutes. It wasn't overly difficult, but the wait time to hear back after applying was quite long.
- Tell me about yourself and your past experiences.
- How would you handle a specific situation?
- Can you walk me through your background?
Analyst
I interviewed with the Hiring Manager and it went well. She mentioned I'd interview with her manager next. After two weeks of no contact, I followed up with the recruiter. He said he was meeting with the Hiring Manager and would share next steps. A week later, the recruiter emailed to say they were moving forward with another candidate. I was confused because there were two roles open and I never even had the second interview. The whole hiring process felt really unprofessional.
