I sent in my resume and then had a phone interview the next day. They gave me a lot of info about Unispec and the government client. Things moved super fast. Right after the phone interview, they scheduled my in-person interview. Later that day, I got Unispec's benefits info and was asked to do an eSkills assessment. They also wanted me to tweak my resume to highlight a couple of administrative duties from the job posting, so the program manager doing the in-person interview could see them. I did that, but I didn't get any confirmation they got the updated resume, which I thought was weird. The day before the scheduled interview, they emailed to say the client was no longer hiring for the role. It's crazy how in just 5 days, a government agency goes from hiring to not hiring for a position, and Unispec had no clue the job was being canceled and kept recruiting? I really don't buy that. While government jobs do get canceled on USAJOBS and with contractors, this situation felt off. In the same email telling me the client wasn't hiring, they asked if I was interested in an Executive Assistant role and attached the job description. Why would I be interested? Considering my recent work history and job function, it makes no sense to try and recruit me as an EA. I was hoping I wouldn't have the same experience as others who commented, but Unispec really has a pattern when it comes to recruiting. I've been in DC a long time and never had an experience like this.

I was first emailed about a telephone interview. It was quick and informative. The recruiter told me about the company and asked about my background and skills. Then, they asked me to come in for an in-person interview. The in-person was chill, and the interviewers were nice and seemed like a good place to work.

I had a phone interview with the CEO, then two in-person interviews, one with the CEO again and another with the project manager. Everything seemed to go well initially, and they were trying to figure out the best placement for me, assuring me a job would be available. After a month of silence, they had me repeat the same interview and skills assessment with the project manager. This also went well, and I was told they'd confirm my placement by the end of the following week. However, I heard nothing for almost two months before receiving a generic email stating they were moving on with other candidates. This was disappointing given their earlier assurances and the total three-month waiting period without feedback.

It was a very straightforward interview process. I was asked about my background, previous employers, experience, and education. We also talked about salary, hours, and the general process. The salary offered was below market rate, and they also wanted a recruiter involved in addition to the person for the actual position. They explained how the recruiting process works, the dress code, and other details. While the company offers great opportunities for gaining experience, the pay is not competitive.
