Behavioral Technical

It was a pretty standard interview process. I initially spoke with recruiters at a career fair and then submitted an online application via my university's job portal. Following that, I had an in-person interview on campus. A lot of the questions were behavioral, like asking me to describe a time I experienced something specific. The interview felt very scripted and unoriginal.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The process started with a 1:1 interview where they used standard questions. This was followed by a couple of phone interviews to go over the position and its requirements. After the initial phone interview with the management team, I was invited for an in-person panel interview. Many of the questions were repeated from the first 1:1 interview. It's crucial to do your research beforehand to understand UP's business, performance, future direction, and current challenges. Demonstrating your knowledge of the railroad industry is important, as is relating your past experiences to your answers.

Behavioral Technical

It was a very behavioral interview. A long list of generic behavioral questions were asked. The only somewhat technical question was about the difference between an object and a class. Not much emphasis was placed on the details of my resume. I would have preferred more time to talk about it. It was an easy interview overall. I should have spent more time preparing generic behavioral answers.
