I had a phone screen and then a couple of interviews. After that, there was a take-home skills assessment, which was followed by an interview with the contract control. The initial phone screen and the first interview went fine. The take-home assignment wasn't too difficult and was related to the accounting tasks for the job. The interview with the controller, however, was a bit strange; he came across as unfriendly and not very personable.

While everyone I met was nice, the interview process was a letdown. It involved five rounds and a four-hour performance task. I got multiple emails about scheduling, with changing dates, and they blamed miscommunication and disorganization for delays. I was repeatedly told I'd get an update by the end of the week, but weeks went by without any word. Candidates spend a lot of time and often take time off work for these long interviews. At the very least, they deserve clear and timely communication to show respect for their time and effort.

Had a nice chat with the hiring manager and the director. The questions were reasonable and the people were friendly. After that, there was a take-home assignment that was pretty involved but relevant to real-world tasks for the role. It included practical SQL cleaning exercises and a system design prompt.

First, I spoke with a recruiter. Then, I had a brief 10-minute call with a senior marketing person. This person was really unfriendly and blunt, jumping between topics without explaining what they meant. I don't think they asked enough questions to really gauge my skills, especially in just ten minutes. I tried to ask more detailed questions, but only got short, unhelpful answers. It felt like they just wanted the call to end and had already decided about me before we even started. It was a terrible experience, and I was upset because I was so excited about the company and felt I didn't get a chance to show what I can do, even after preparing. I wanted to let them know about the negative experience candidates might have, even those who are really interested in their mission.
