I applied online and was invited to an interview on my campus. Under Armour recruits directly at my school since we are local, so the process is a little quicker than most schools. The interview was with 4 people split into 2 groups of 2, where each interview was about 30 minutes. Questions were almost all behavioral, and the only ones that weren't were open-ended questions that you could back up with your opinion.

Behavioral Technical Other

The hiring journey for the Under Armour internship was quite drawn out with multiple phases. They're pretty clear about what to expect at each step, so there weren't any major surprises. The Hireview interview was one of the later stages and felt the most daunting. It's basically like a self-recorded video interview where you answer questions they give you. They get that this might be new for many applicants and are usually understanding about small slip-ups. If you get through the Hireview, you'll have a Skype chat with someone who's likely going to be on your team or your manager. This interview felt pretty relaxed, more about seeing if you'd mesh with the team rather than assessing your qualifications. After that, a recruiter from the internship team will call you with an offer. It's not extended during the manager Skype call. My main issue with the internship hiring process was the incredibly long timeline – I applied in November and didn't get an offer until March. Also, you can't track your application status at all. While no news might be good news, it's tough, especially when you're exploring other internship options.

The first step was an online interview where I had to record myself answering pre-recorded questions. Then there was a Skype-like interview with someone from the team I might join. Under Armour claims you're still in consideration until they explicitly say you're not, but honestly, that doesn't seem to be the case. I saw that they cut applicants from 18,000 down to 500 for the second round, yet some people who didn't get a second interview still think they have a shot, which is obviously not true. Under Armour could really improve by: 1. Filtering applicants much earlier instead of letting so many through to the HireVu interview. 2. Actually informing applicants right away when they're out of the running for the internship. Nobody seems to have heard back about rejections, and it's clear not everyone is still in the running. It's really unprofessional to make people wait until April 15th to hear back when they already know they won't make it to the second interview, let alone get an offer. It seems Under Armour is just keeping a large pool of candidates just in case their initial offers aren't accepted. Overall, I'm really disappointed with how Under Armour handles hiring for their Summer interns, and they definitely need to make some changes. Maybe they could get some new people on their campus recruiting team this summer to rethink their hiring process. They clearly need help.
