Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UM.
Strategist
Introduced attendees, I introduced myself (resume, but also personal background), discussed work experience in detail. Managers talked about how the team works, tasks, pitches, etc., and what the potential responsibilities in the role would be. HR was not present.
- What qualifications do you bring?
Strategy Lead
The process had 4 interviews: HR, local Strategy Director, regional Strategy Director, and local agency Managing Director. The whole thing was virtual on Teams. Everyone was super nice and flexible, giving me options. It was pretty straightforward and happened weekly. They wanted me to start quickly, but we managed it. Overall, it was a good experience, though the salaries are low.
- Can you tell me about your experience in similar roles at previous jobs?
- Can you provide specific examples of your past work?
- What proposals have you made in previous roles?
Strategy Associate
A recruiter from LinkedIn reached out. A few days later, I interviewed with HR. Three days after that, I had a phone call with the hiring manager. By the end of that week, I went in for a final round with some VPs to get a feel for the company and culture. I got an offer within three weeks of the initial LinkedIn message. The whole thing was really smooth, and everyone was super nice and driven. I was really impressed.
- Can you walk us through your background?
- Tell me about your leadership experience.
- Do you consider yourself more of a team player or an individual contributor?
