Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UM.
Associate
It was pretty standard and well organized! The whole process from the first recruiter call to getting the offer took about 3 weeks and involved three 30-minute interviews. I spoke with 3 different team members who asked me typical questions about my past experiences from internships and classes, focusing on my ability to learn quickly and communicate well.
- Can you walk me through the entire lifecycle of a media campaign?
Senior Associate
A recruiter contacted me about a month after applying. She was very nice and after a screening video call, seemed really interested in me, which was great. She was knowledgeable and clear about the role. Then she set up an interview with 3 people, which went well. I got the job just 2-3 business days later. Everyone involved in onboarding, from the recruiter to IT and HR, was super responsive before my first day. It was honestly the best recruiter experience I've had in a while and led to an offer.
- Can you tell me about your experience managing budgets in your previous role?
- How did you handle financial responsibilities at your old job?
- Could you describe your experience with billing processes from your previous position?
Associate Director
First, I had a call with the recruiter, then two interviews with managers. Everything went great and they were all super nice people. But then after that, HR said they'd let me know about an update, and then just totally ghosted me. It was really unprofessional.
- Could you describe your management style?
