So, for the UI dev job at Ulta, the interviews were pretty thorough. It kicked off with a quick chat with a recruiter over the phone. After that, I had a technical interview with some of the senior UI folks. The whole thing wrapped up with a final stage where I met with team leads and the hiring manager. They were checking out my tech skills, but also how I tackle problems, work with others, and keep up with what's new in the industry.

It was a FAANG level interview process but they offered peanuts. When I asked about the compensation difference from what we discussed initially, they said that was the max they could offer even though it was advertised differently. It felt like a scam. The process started off wrong, we agreed on a compensation, but the offer was insultingly low, missing the initial discussion by thousands after a long interview process. Here’s how it went: 1. 30 min recruiter screen. 2. 45 min HM screen. 3. 1 hr 15 min live coding and tech round. 4. 45 min mixed interview with Product & Core Job responsibilities. 5. 45 min with a Director on Technical aspects and Leadership. 6. 45 min with another Director on Culture & Stress/Workload management. 7. 1 hour with HM again on competencies and technical stuff.

If you're an internal applicant, you'll start by uploading your resume. Then there's a technical audition via video, followed by interviews with the GM, the DM, and the Regional SDE. During these, you'll need to discuss business acumen, metrics, and goals.
