Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UKG.
Design Manager
The interview process was disorganized. There were long gaps with no communication, and I had to follow up to schedule interviews. I interviewed with three people who gave positive feedback. After that, there was a two-week period of silence. When I inquired, I was told I lacked sufficient management experience, which was surprising given our previous discussions about my extensive experience and how it aligned with the role at UKG. The overall experience felt like the company wasn't genuinely committed to hiring and might have been stringing candidates along without a real intention to fill the position. Given their recent turnover and layoffs, this might explain their approach.
- Can you discuss your experience in managing people?
- What is your experience with managing stakeholder expectations?
- Can you share your management experience and how it would be similar to the management exception at UKG?
Product Support Manager
I had a standard phone screen that was about 30 minutes. Then, I had a 45-minute video call with the hiring manager on a Thursday. They said I'd hear back by the middle of the next week about moving forward, which seemed fine. It's been over a week with no word, so I followed up and they said the hiring manager was still deciding. It's been over a month now with no response, which I think is really unprofessional given the time I put in. I would have preferred a rejection email to being ghosted. This whole experience soured my view of the company, despite their claims.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- Could you describe your management style?
Escalation Manager
Started with a recruiter call, then had a more in-depth interview with the director. The communication was good, and everyone was nice. The Teams calls were okay, though one got cut off. I was told there would be a third round with some managers, but I didn't get that far. I was rejected after the second round; they said I'd be a good personal fit but didn't think I had enough experience, which I found odd given my past role at Kronos and knowing people still there who could back me up. But, it wasn't meant to be.
- Can you describe a time you managed a difficult escalation?
