The manager chatted about the unit and the vibe. She highlighted how customer service and great care are super important on the unit. Then she asked about my experience and what I think about customer service values.

I first talked to the HR person who does the hiring for RNs. It was an in-person meeting at the HR office and she asked me about my personality and what motivates me. She also asked what kind of unit I was interested in, even though I didn't have any acute-care experience. I mentioned Med-Surg because I was worried about getting into critical care, but I kind of regret that now since others without experience got into the ICU. After that, I met with the manager of the unit I ended up being hired for, along with some of the RNs from that unit. They asked me more about nursing skills and how I'd handle specific situations. Once hired, there's a probationary period of three months where they can let you go pretty easily.

I had a good interview with the recruiter. Then, the RN unit manager for the Observation Unit was supposed to interview me, but they changed it last minute to someone else. That person didn't even talk to me for five minutes, and then I never heard back from them. They didn't even send an email saying I wasn't selected. It was very unprofessional.
