Communications Coordinator
The interview process was very straightforward and helpful! The first round was a panel interview held over Zoom with four interviewers. The second round was a phone meeting. HR was helpful in the onboarding process.
- Can you describe your experience leading a communications campaign?
Infection Preventionist
I applied online and then got a call for a phone interview. Honestly, I was relieved not to move forward after that one. The interviewer said he was 'arrogant enough to teach the job to anyone,' which was a huge turnoff, and the rest of the interview went downhill. It was nothing like other interviews I've had. I felt it wasn't a good cultural fit because I like humble leaders and working with collaborative teams. I listened to my gut and I'm glad it worked out because that phone interview was not a good experience. They asked about my experience and interest in the job. I think it's important to consider personality and communication styles when looking at employers, as well as cultural fit. Some people like loud, direct talk, others prefer a more careful approach. Whatever works for them. Anyway, it was a bad experience, and I won't waste my time there again.
- Can you describe your background in infection prevention?
- What makes you interested in this position?
Clinical Nurse Educator
I applied in February 2022 and got a call in March for an interview in April. The interview went well, it was a semi-laid back conversation with behavioral questions, though I mostly asked the questions. The department director, manager, and a NP interviewed me. After my questions were answered, the hiring manager said the process from interview to offer usually takes 3-4 weeks and to be patient. I got a call from an interviewer asking for resume clarity and references, which I emailed the next day. It's been almost 3 weeks and my references haven't been contacted, so I plan to email for a follow-up if there's no communication by week 4. I emailed the hiring manager after 4 weeks but still no response. The job posting changed from 1 to 2 positions, and it's not part-time. I will withdraw my application.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Clinical Nurse
The interview process was pretty straightforward, mainly consisting of behavioral questions. I had one clinical question that was very basic, like nursing 101. I interviewed at Hillcrest and then at Jacobs the next day, and the interviews were quite similar. After the Jacobs interview on Friday, I was emailed for references. They called me the following Monday with an offer. I never heard back from Hillcrest, so I sent them a thank you email and withdrew my application. The process at UCSD Jacobs was very fast, with a start date three weeks after the offer.
- Describe a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you resolved it.
- What are your professional goals?
- What practice at your current hospital do you believe should be adopted universally?
