Tutor
You'll get a straightforward question based on the subject you want to tutor. They're checking your communication skills and how well you can stick to the tutor guidelines.
- Could you answer a chemistry question about stoichiometry and molarity?
Tutor
The interview involves a scenario question where you'll help tutor a student. You'll need to show step-by-step how to solve a problem, speak clearly, and ask questions to gauge the student's knowledge. There's also a scenario question where you get to choose the topic you teach.
- Can you describe a scenario where you would tutor a student?
- How would you demonstrate problem-solving step-by-step?
- Please explain how you ensure clear communication while tutoring.
Instructor
I had to pick one of three days for my interview. Three people were on the committee. At the end, they asked me to do a 5-10 minute sample lesson plan discussion. I had to come up with my own exercises. When you get there, just wait in the lobby and they'll call you when they're free.
- What makes you want to tutor for Upward Bound?
- How would you handle a difficult teenager?
- What's your reasoning for believing you're a good fit for this role?
